Sandusky Harbor was allocated $1,806,000 in the Army Corps of Engineers annual work plan to dredge approximately 110,000 cubic yards, with the work described as beginning later in 2026. Within that amount, $250,000 is set aside to advance a long-term dredged material management plan guiding where material from Sandusky Harbor is placed in future years. The same announcement listed Toledo Harbor at $9,205,000, Port Clinton Harbor at $4,266,000, West Harbor at $1,610,000 and Cooley Canal Harbor at $726,000, totaling more than $17.6 million across five northwest Ohio harbors. The funding was announced in June 2026 by U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, ranking member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development.
